Crosstown Ceres foes split WAC track and field competition

Central Valley and Ceres High split in varsity track and field on April 3.

The host Hawks won the boys Western Athletic Conference dual meet, 74-59.

Cristian Chavez, William Hunnel, Ja'Quan Gardner, Matt Menor, Jose Uribe, Edward Martinez, Nick Gonzalez, Roberto Aguilar, Ben Saldana, Andrew Leverly, Anthony Centeno, Angelo Bermudez and Julio Cardoso led Central Valley.

Chavez placed first in the shot put.

Hunnel placed first in the pole vault.

Gardner placed first in the 100 and 200, and third in the long jump.

Menor placed first in the 300 hurdles and second in the high jump.

Uribe placed first in the discus and second in the shot put.

Martinez placed second in 300 hurdles and 400.

Gonzalez placed second in the 800.

Aguilar placed second in the 1,600.

Saldana placed second in the 3,200.

Leverly placed second in the pole vault.

Centeno placed second in the long jump.

Bermudez placed second in the 100 and third in the 200.

Cardoso placed third in the discus.

Judas Chavarin, Jacob Meyer, Gabriel Solis, Eddie Aceves, Pietro Puducay, Kevin Rameriz, Brett Gonzalez, Manuel Baez, Humberto Luna, Abel Anaya and Jordan Dray led the Bulldogs.

Chavarin swept the 3,200, 1,600 and 800.

Meyer placed first in the high jump and long jump.

Solis placed first in the 400.

Aceves placed second in the 200 and third in the 100.

Pudacay placed second in the discus and third in the shot put.

Rameriz placed third in the 3,200.

Gonzalez placed third in the 1,600.

Baez placed third in the 800.

Luna placed third in the 400.

Anaya placed third in the high jump.

Dray placed third in the 300 hurdles.

Cecilia Carretero, Ryleigh Honberger, Bella Carlyle, Bryce Ford, Lourdes Razo, Jeanette Torrez, Yaneli Espinoza, Yvonne Verduzco, Ayanna Williams and Kiana Crawford helped lift Ceres High's girls to a 60-38 victory.

Carretero swept the 3,200, 1,600 and 800.

Honberger placed first in the high jump and long jump.

Carlyle placed first in the shot put.

Ford placed first in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, and second in the high jump.

Razo placed first in the discus and third in the shot put.

Torrez placed second in the 3,200, 1,600 and 800.

Espinoza placed second in the discus and shot put.

Verduzco placed second in the 400 and 200.

Williams placed third in the 100.

Crawford placed third in the discus.

Christy Morales, Heaven Simon, Angel Simon, Drucella Miranda, Breanna Wideman, Marybel Cortez, Linda Bautista and Maday Padilla paced the Hawks.

Morales won the pole vault.

Heaven Simon placed first in the 400 and 100.

Angel Simon placed first in the 200 and second in the 100.

Miranda placed second in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Wideman placed third in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Cortez placed third in the 3,200 and 800.

Bautista placed third in the 400.

Padilla placed third in the 200.
