Ceres High's varsity boys track and field team earned a narrow 71-65 win over host Patterson on April 5.

The Bulldogs won the final event to secure the victory.

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Johnny Hutson, Marcellus Boykins, Christian Linarez and Zyier Harrison placed first.

"It was a winner-take-all situation," Bulldogs head coach Brett Johnson said. "That's what you want as an athlete. Johnny ran a great opening leg. Marcellus extended the lead. Christian held it. Zyier finished strong. The kids rose to the occasion."

The first-place Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet standings.

"We're right where I thought we'd be," Johnson said.

Conner Johnson swept the shot put and discus.

Joseph Gutierrez placed first in the 800.

Boykins placed first in the triple jump, and second in the long jump and 400.

Harrison placed first in the 200 and second in the 100.

Jorge Tiscareno placed first in the pole vault and third the 110 hurdles.

Andrew Gibson placed second in the 110 hurdles and pole vault.

Linarez placed second in the 1,600 and 800.

Daniel Yepez placed second in the 300 hurdles.

Zach Baker placed second in the high jump.

Noah Holloway placed second in the 3,200 and third in the 1,600.

Daniel McElwain placed third in the shot put.

Roman Acosta placed third in the 3,200.
Hutson placed third in the 400.

Bulldogs 97, Tigers 29

Ceres High's varsity girls track and field team kept its perfect record intact against WAC competition with a 97-29 win at Patterson last week.

The first-place Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the conference standings.

"It's always exciting when you beat Patterson," coach Johnson said.

Azia Brewster swept the 100 hurdles, long jump and high jump.

Azar Harrison swept the 100 and 200.

Destiny Suarez swept the 1,600 and 800.

Chelsey Silva placed first in the 3,200.

Yasmine Cordova placed first in the 400.

Julia Pata placed first in the shot put and second in the discus.

Alyssa Stiles placed first in the triple jump and third in the long jump.

Carli Gomes placed first in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100.

Shania Evans placed second in the triple jump.

Alina Williams placed second in the 100.

Rachael Thomas placed second in the 400.

Brisa Gonzalez placed second in the 3,200.

Leslie Arroyo placed second in the 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles.

Kendall Meyer placed second in the high jump and third in the triple jump.

Claudia Jimenez placed second in the 200 and third in the 400.

Camryn Elness placed third in the shot put and discus.
