CHS boys unbeaten in WAC track competition

Ceres High’s boys track and field program collected wins against Pacheco and Grace Davis during last week’s Western Athletic Conference tri meet.

On the girls side, the Bulldogs beat the Panthers and lost to the Spartans.

Ceres High’s boys team is closing in on its second straight Western Athletic Conference regular-season title.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 in the WAC standings after besting Pacheco 111-30 and Grace Davis 108-33 on Wednesday in Los Banos.

“They’ve become a great team,” head coach Paul Smith said. “They’ve earned it. They’ve put in the work.”

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Adrian Huesca, Anthony Santillan, Leo Baez and Estevan Diaz placed first.

Ceres High’s 4x400 relay team of Julian Barrera, Jamesdean Robertson, Jesus Torrez and Cashton Almeida placed first.

Ceres High’s 4x800 relay team of Robertson, Barrera, Sergio Torres and Andrew Alfaro placed first.

Cashton Almeida placed first in the 200, 400 and high jump.

Sergio Torres placed first in the 800.

Josiah Martinez placed first in the pole vault, second in the high jump and third in the triple jump.

Sam Nieto placed first in the shot put and third in the discus.

Leonardo Ayala placed first in the 300 hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles.

Saragun Singh placed first in the discus.

Anthony Santillan placed second in the 100 and 200.

Elian Fuentes placed second in the shot put and discus.

David Rodriguez-Ochoa placed second in the 110 hurdles.

Jayden Jaimes placed second in the 1,600 and 3,200, and third in the pole vault.

Jamesdean Robertson placed second in the 200 and third in the 400.

Jesus Torrez placed second in the 400.

Aashish Julka placed second in the pole vault.

Andres Marcial placed third in the 1,600.

Jordan Singh placed third in the pole vault.

Adrian Huesca placed third in the 100.

Abijah Bratton placed third in the high jump.

Ceres High’s girls team moved to 2-4 in the conference standings after topping Pacheco 88.5-47.5 and losing 66-65 to Grace Davis.

“They’re starting to understand what they’re capable of,” coach Smith said. “We just need more numbers. We lack depth across the board.”

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Brooke Kiser, Camila Rubio, Emily Howey and Abigail Schultz placed first.

Sovannary Carter placed first in the long jump and triple jump.

Clarissa Rivera placed first in the 1,600 and second in the 800.

Jayden Garcia placed first in the 100 hurdles and third in the 400.

Abigail Schultz placed first in the pole vault and second in the triple jump.

Brooke Kiser placed first in the 100.

Martina Meglioli placed first in the high jump.

Jadasa Haro placed second in the pole vault.

Isabella Sabala placed third in the 1,600 and 3,200.

SPLIT FOR HAWKS

Central Valley’s girls track and field program improved to 3-3 in the Western Athletic Conference’s regular-season standings this past week.

Central Valley’s boys moved to 2-4 versus league opponents.

Central Valley’s girls team secured a split while competing against Johansen and Beyer on April 15 at Ceres High School.

The Hawks totaled 38 points on their way to beating Johansen (12) and losing to Beyer (111).

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Ayleen Apreza, Airieana Martinez, Kassandra Torres and Andrea Tejeda finished first.

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Kassandra Torres, Andrea Tejeda, Ayleen Apreza and Alexyia Garcia finished first.

Andrea Tejeda finished first in the 400 and second in the 200.

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Jaylene Avila, Valeria Garcia Morales, Camila Urena and Manroop Kaur finished second.

Central Valley’s 4x800 relay team of Camila Urena, Jocelyn Rivera, Beverly Hance and Sophia Calderon finished second.

Valeria Garcia Morales finished second in the high jump.

Lilyanna Madrigal finished second.

Karla Sarabia finished third in the triple jump.

Airieana Martinez finished third in the 100.

Kassandra Torres finished third in the 200.

Central Valley’s boys team (56) secured a split while competing against Johansen (37) and Beyer (74).

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Daniel Leon, Allen Sanchez, Massimo Catalano and Ernesto Martinez finished first.

Ernesto Martinez finished first in the 200 and 400.

Steve Duran finished first in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

David Alvarado finished first in the discus.

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Steven Duran, Daniel Leon, Allen Sanchez and Ernesto Martinez finished second.

Daniel Leon finished second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100.

Blake Silva finished second in the high jump and third in the 300 hurdles.

Elijah Plasencia finished second in the shot put.

Jaycob Casias finished second in the long jump.

Massimo Catalano finished second in the 100.

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Daniel Gonzalez, Isaac Ramirez, Adam Victorino and Ivan Quezada finished third.

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Kaleb Mendoza, Adam Victorino, Blake Silva and Jaycob Casias finished third.

Central Valley’s 4x800 relay team of Frankie Klino, Jante Smith, Enoc Reyes and Diego Garcia finished third.

Kaleb Mendoza finished third in the triple jump.

Santiago Garcia finished third in the shot put.
