Central Valley’s youth-laden varsity girls swim team dropped to 0-2 in the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet standings following Thursday’s 115-41 loss to visiting Los Banos at Ceres High.

“Everyone improved their times from the meet before,” head coach Sarah Willems said. “That’s nice to see.”

Hawk senior standout Leilani Ortiz swept the 50 free (27.84) and 100 breast (1:23.13).

Sophomore Aryanna Jimenez placed second in the 50 free (28.41) and 100 free (1:02.35).

Sophomore Belle Martinez placed third in the 100 free (1:18.09).

Freshman Bailey Bowmer placed fourth in the 200 free (2:48.03).

Freshman Natalia Torres placed fourth in the 100 back (1:47.81).

Freshman Gianna Giottonini placed fourth in the 100 free (1:20.41) and sixth in the 100 breast (1:53.19).

Freshman Sofia Amaral placed fifth in the 50 free (31.47) and 100 breast (1:35.65).

Central Valley’s 200 ‘A’ medley relay team placed second (2:24.75).

Central Valley’s 200 ‘A’ free relay team placed second (1:59.31).

Central Valley’s 400 ‘A’ free relay team placed third (5:35.44).

Central Valley’s four-person varsity boys swim team remained winless in the WAC dual-meet standings after losing 119-15 to Los Banos last week in Ceres.

“They all had individual improvements on their times,” Willems said. “That’s a positive.”

Senior Nathan Curry placed third in the 100 breast (1:43.62) and fourth in the 100 free (1:21.57).

Junior Andy Jacinto placed third in the 50 free (36.34) and fifth in the 100 free (1:31.72).

Freshman Jesus Rosalez placed fourth in the 50 free (37.75)

Freshman Miguel Lindoro placed sixth in the 50 free (42.93).

Central Valley’s 200 ‘A’ free relay team placed second (2:30.56).

Bulldogs sweep Tigers
    Ceres High’s varsity swim program swept Western Athletic Conference-rival Patterson on the road this past week.

Ceres High’s girls team evened its WAC dual-meet record at 1-1 after topping the Tigers 118-48 on Thursday.

Freshman Allison McAdams finished first in the 200 IM (2:50.38) and 100 breast (1:27.31).

Senior Savannah Zielke finished first in the 100 fly (1:21.22).

Junior Jullissa Arreola finished first in the 100 fly (1:21.22).

Ceres High’s boys team coasted to a 123-24 win over Patterson.

Sophomore Mark Razo finished first in the 200 IM (2:45.32) and 100 fly (1:06.73).

Freshman Ryan Baranski finished first in the 50 free (25.51) and 100 free (1:00.43).

Freshman Diego Caravalho finished first in the 100 back (1:17.04).
