CV still searching for first conference victory in baseball

Central Valley's varsity baseball team dropped to 6-14-1 on the season and remained in a tie for last place in the WAC standings following last week's 0-2 showing at Pacheco.

The second-place Panthers moved to 9-5-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Central Valley lost 15-5 in six innings to Pacheco on Thursday.

The Hawks totaled eight hits on offense.

Freshman Sergio Solis batted 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run.

Ryan Palecek batted 1-for-3 with two runs.

Jason Perez batted 1-for-1 with one run.

Gabe Campos batted 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Alex Solis batted 1-for-4 with one run and one stolen base.

Derek Bolivar and Daniel Valencia both singled.

Robert Garcia started at pitcher.

He allowed no runs and one hits with two strikeouts and no strikeouts in two innings.

Relief pitcher Joel Branco (0-2) picked up the loss.

Branco gave up seven runs-six earned-and three hits with one strikeout and five walks in one inning.

Pacheco also won the first game of the double-header by the mercy rule, 14-2 in six innings.

Down 3-2, Central Valley surrendered 11 runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Hawks batted .182 (4-for-22) from the plate on offense.

Alex Solis finished 1-for-3 with one double, one run and two stolen bases.

Perez finished 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Sergio Solis scored once.

Garcia and Branco both singled.

Pacheco tagged Central Valley starting pitcher Israel Anaya (1-4) for five runs-four earned-and seven hits over five innings.

Anaya had three strikeouts and two walks.

The Hawks will face the Tigers of Patterson twice this week.

Central Valley will host third-place Patterson tomorrow at 4 p.m.
