Solis, Modesto High’s RJ Soria and Trent Prokes, Pitman’s Nick Tullio, Big Valley’s Tyler Mayor and the Blue team lost 11-5 to the Gold team on June 9 at Stanislaus State.

“I got a lot of respect for those guys and their capabilities,” Solis said. “We all work on our craft constantly.”

Alex played shortstop in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

He batted 0-for-2 from the plate with one strikeout.

Solis reached base on an error.

“The most enjoyable part was playing on this stage with and against guys I know."

“The most enjoyable part was playing on this stage with and against guys I know,” Solis said.

Solis, Tullio and Mayor will play for the Stanislaus State Warriors’ prep baseball team for the second year in a row this summer.

Solis, Leon, Soria and Prokes teamed up with the Modesto-based NorCal Valley for three seasons (15s, 14s and 13s).

“I’ve known him (Leon) since I was seven,” Solis said. “We played Ceres Youth Baseball together. We played for the same travel ball team. We’re still friends.”

Alex was selected to the 2018 WAC First Team during his third season of varsity baseball.

A utility player with the Hawks, Solis batted .386 with three triples, eight doubles, 17 RBIS, 19 runs and 12 stolen bases in 25 games.

He ranked first in the WAC in hits (11), triples (1) and stolen bases (5), second in doubles (3) and walks (7), third in batting average (.379), RBIs (7) and on-base percentage (.500), fifth in runs (7), and sixth in slugging percentage (.551).

Solis totaled 57 strikeouts while logging 43 innings at pitcher.

“I’m pretty satisfied with this year’s performance,” Alex aid. “I’m looking to improve next year. I want to increase my batting average and have a better pitching record.”
