Breaking news: Man's body found in Tuolumne River

Stanislaus County Sheriff's Detectives are investigating the discovery of a body in the Tuolumne River near the Seventh Street Bridge.

The body was discovered by homeless woman Tuesday afternoon. Deputies responded to a homeless encampment near the Highway 99 overcrossing of the Tuolumne River where they discovered the body of an adult male who was approximately 50-60 years old.

The victim had been in the water for several days.

The body was taken to the Stanislaus County Coroner's facility to begin the process of identification. An autopsy will also be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
