Stanislaus County Sheriff's detectives have arrested a man believe involved in the May 3 South Modesto shooting which killed one man and injured another.

Matthew Reyes, 19, of Modesto, was at the Stanislaus County Superior Courthouse in downtown Modesto for a previous case when he was arrested on Friday. He was charged with murder and attempted murder.

Authorities believe Reyes shot at two men shortly after 1 a.m. behind the auction yard on Main Street and Pecos Avenue just outside of Ceres. The bullets hit two men in their 20s, one of which was unconscious inside of a vehicle as the vehicle began to catch on fire. Deputies pulled Gregory Thornhill Wallace, 24, out of the burning vehicle but he did from his injuries a few days later. The other victim, 21, was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released from the hospital.
