THIRD ARREST FOR TEEN: CERES - A 15-year-old Ceres boy was arrested for a third time in less than two weeks after police found him for a second time in possession of a stolen weapons.
The boy, whose identified was not released because of his age, was first arrested March 20 for a warrant. He was arrested a second time on March 28 behind the Chevron at Service and Mitchell roads. He was found with a 9mm handgun that was stolen from a Fresno Police officer living in Clovis.
The boy was released but officers arrested him just four days later. The teen was a suspect in the theft of a gun taken from a residence in the 3700 block of Blaker Road. Deputy Police Chief Mike Borges said the boy was arrested by Officer Darren Perry at 9:21 p.m. on April 1 along with a 17-year-old accomplice. The stolen Ceres gun was found in the 17-year-old's bedroom as well as two .22 caliber rifles that were stolen.
The 17-year-old boy was charged with theft of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and a minor in possession of a handgun and ammunition with gang enhancements.
The 15-year-old was charged with theft of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and a minor in possession of a handgun and ammunition and parole violation.
ARRESTED IN FIGHT: CERES - A domestic fight placed one man in jail March 29 and sent police searching for a second suspect.
Randy Barlett, 25, of Ceres, was charged with domestic violence and battery in connection with a 11:34 p.m. fight in the 2900 block of Sixth Street.
Police said approximately nine people were at the residence where alcohol was being consumed. Police said the incident started when Bartlett wanted a 17-year-old teen to leave and his 19-year-old girlfriend intervened. A fight ensued and a bottle was thrown and broken. Apparently a 30-year-old female cut a 19-year-old female with a piece of broken glass. Deputy Police Chief Mike Borges said three people were hurt in the fight.
The female suspect was not identified.
POLICE SEARCH FOR PURSE SNATCHER: CERES - Police are looking for a suspect who stole an elderly woman's purse as she was shopping Sunday evening on Hatch Road.
The victim said she was in the parking lot of Raley's when a Latino man came up to her and snatched the purse from her arm and ran to an awaiting gray Chevy Astro van with an out-of-state plate.
The van was last seen driving eastbound on Hatch Road right after the 6:58 p.m. robbery.
JUVENILE ARRESTED IN STOLEN VEHICLE: CERES - Officer Jason Brock, who was recently honored with an award for retrieving the most stolen cars in 2007, made another arrest on Friday.
The officer regularly runs license plate numbers of cars he sees on the road and discovered that a 1998 Toyota Camry near him was reported as stolen. Brock pulled over the driver and made an arrest in the area of Pyramid and Stanford. The juvenile driver was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
MAN IN BACKYARD ARRESTED: CERES - An alert real estate agent called Ceres Police on Friday to report an attempted break-in to a house on Vernal Drive.
Police responded and found Felix Garcia, 26, in the backyard. He was arrested for trespassing and violation of probation.
