• MARIJUANA IN CAR STOP: CERES - A traffic stop at Richland and Darby at 10:31 p.m. Monday resulted in the discovery of over a pound of marijuana and a makeshift bong made from a Gatorade bottle.

The driver, Waldo Perez, 21, of Modesto, was arrested and transported to jail on charges on drug charges.

• STOLEN CAR STOPPED: CERES - Juan Telles, 43, was arrested and charged with auto theft after he was stopped in a 1990 Honda Accord believed to be stolen.

Telles was driving the Honda at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday and stopped in the area of Sixth and Park streets. The driver was on parole and claimed he was a mechanic taking the 1990 Honda Accord for a test drive. During a closer inspection, Officer Ortiz found a shaved Toyota key in the ignition. The driver admitted the car was stolen and said he got it from a friend whose name he did not know. Police made several attempts to contact the registered owner.

Telles was also charged with possession of burglary tools and parole violation.

• ELDERLY MAN HITS PARKED CARS: CERES - Two cars parked along Fourth Street in front of Wells Fargo Bank were struck by a car driven by an older driver Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred at around 4 p.m. at Fourth and North streets.

Don Sanders, 77, backed into the cars with his white Lincoln Town Car. Police Lt. Brent Smith said that Sanders may have been taking medication that affected his driving skills. Police are referring Sanders to the DMV for a re-evaluation of his drivers' license. He was cited for unsafe backing up.

An elderly woman sitting in one of the struck vehicles checked out okay by paramedics.

Moderate damage was sustained by Sanders' vehicle and moderate damage to the other two vehicles.

• DUI CRASH ARREST MADE: CERES - An intoxicated Charles Watt, 28, of Ceres, was arrested for drunk driving after he crashed his red Ford F-150 pickup into a parked white GMC Yukon.

The crash occurred at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Canyon and Riverbend drives.

Watts had a blood alcohol content of 0.11 and was arrested for DUI, violation of probation and driving on a suspended license.

• DRIVER PURPOSELY STEERS INTO PARKED VAN: CERES - A 20-year-old Modestan was arrested after he allegedly and deliberately drove his car into another car during an argument with his female passenger.

The incident occurred at Herndon Road and Joyce Avenue at 9:12 p.m. on Sunday when Agustino Gutierrez steered a 1999 Chevy Cavalier into a 1999 Dodge mini van parked on the east side of the road. Gutierrez immediately ran from the crash but police found him standing in the front yard of a relative's home in the 1200 block of Nadine Avenue.

Gutierrez was arrested on charges of vandalism.

• STOLEN CAR STOPPED WITH SUSPECTS: CERES - Two persons were arrested early Monday after they drove off in a stolen 1987 Chevy pickup taken from the 1000 block of Bordeaux Drive.

The owner of the pickup called 911 at 12:05 a.m. and in a short time later Officer Brian Albonetti spotted the vehicle on Bystrum Road at Latimer Avenue. Albonetti followed until more patrol units arrived to perform a felony traffic stop atop the Ninth Street bridge.

The driver, Timothy Tillery, 27, of Modesto, was arrested on charges of auto theft, possession of methamphetamine and violation of parole.

Passenger Tyann Peeples, 20, of Modesto, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, giving false identification to an officer, and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.

• TWO ARRESTED IN DUI CRASH: CERES - After crashing into a parked car at Blaker and Don Pedro roads, late Saturday, two occupants of a gray Accura TSX were arrested.

The crash occurred at 10:32 p.m. when a white Honda Civic was struck.

Police located driver Veronica Herrera, 22, of Ceres, and arrested her on drunk driving charges. Her passenger, Frankie Olivas, 24, of Ceres, fled on foot but was apprehended for public drunkenness.
