Arrest made on Lynley Drive in stolen car
Ceres Cop Car

Parmpal Johal, 25, of Ceres, was arrested and charged with auto theft, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools, after he tried to run from police on Sept. 15 in a stolen vehicle.

Officer Justin Canatsy was on patrol in the 1500 block of Lynley Drive at 11:10 p.m. when he saw a vehicle being driven around in the neighborhood in a suspicious manner. As he pulled the patrol car behind the vehicle, Johal pulled the car to the curb and took off running. The suspect was located hiding in a driveway a few houses away. The officer had to chase Johal after he took off running again, but made an arrest on Semini Circle.

Canatsy was injured with a sprained ankle. The new officer was punched in the face in an unrelated case on Darrah Street on Sept. 8.
