Clues sought in homicide

Detectives are asking for the public's help in an investigation of a south Modesto homicide that occurred on Sunday.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 300 block of Olivero Road in south Modesto for a report of gunshots. Deputies found Oscar Nunez, 36, of Delhi, shot and mortally wounded in a small field between residences. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses stated they had heard several gun shots approximately 45 minutes to an hour before deputies were called. Although Nunez is from Delhi he had frequented the area where he was shot.

No arrest has been made at this time. Detectives are following up on all leads and are asking anyone with information in this case to contact Detective Lloyd MacKinnon at 209-525-7032.
