Two men who were both missing a leg were involved in an argument that turned into a shooting on July 18 at a South Seventh Street mobile home park.
At 11:44 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies were called regarding the shooting at Modesto Mobile Village at 665 S. Seventh Street. While on the way a canine deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the park which contained the suspect, Dominc Geren, 21. Deputies learned that Geren had pulled out a handgun during an argument with the victim. As the two wrestled for control of the gun, the gun fired a shot into the victim but Sgt. Luke Schwartz said it was believed to be a non-lethal flesh wound.
A loaded firearm was recovered through the assistance of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department helicopter.
Geren was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on multiple felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, altering a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition. He is being held in jail on $400,000 bail.
