Sheriff's detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that took place early Wednesday morning in the 400 block of Hatch Road in south Modesto.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene after someone called 911 at approximately 12:30 a.m. and found a mortally wounded Sylvia Chavarria, 29. She was declared dead at the scene after dying from a gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives processed the crime scene are asking for any witnesses to this homicide to come forward with information. No information on a suspect was provided. Anyone with information on the investigation is urged to call Detective Jesse Tovar at 525-7080.
