Drug-crazed man pulled from dumpster
Ceres Cop Car

A man believed to be under the influence of drugs and dancing inside of a store dumpster early Thursday had to be removed through use of a police Taser gun.

Police were called at 12:14 a.m. by employees of Chevron in the 1800 block of Mitchell Road about a man who partially barricaded himself inside the cinder block trash enclosure. Officers found Robert Gomez, 26, of Modesto, dancing around inside and possibly high on drugs. Officers attempted to detain Gomez but he began approaching them with clinched fists. Officer Ross Bays deployed his Taser which caused Gomez to fall to the ground. Officers Pat Dayton and Bays then placed Gomez in handcuffs. Gomez was not injured during the arrest and was transported to jail where he was booked for being under the influence of a controlled substance and resisting or obstructing an officer.
