Erratic driving flagged the attention of a Ceres Police officer early Friday which led to the arrest of a driver who was suspected of being under the influence of narcotics.

At 12:06 a.m. Officer Matthew Myers spotted a black Mercedes Benz being driven erratically in the area of Moonview Drive and Boothe Rd. When he caught up to the car at Boothe Road and Whitehaven Avenue, it stopped in the middle of the roadway. The Mercedes then moved forward and struck the curb at Whitehaven Avenue and Paladin Street.

Officer Myers spoke to driver Eduardo Ayala, 38, of Ceres, who appeared to be intoxicated from a drug. A DUI investigation was completed, and he was arrested. Ayala was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of a drug.
