A 21-year-old man who was intoxicated when he drove into a parked car and fled the scene early Sunday was cited and released to his family.

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way the jail is receiving certain arrestees.

The crash in the 1900 block of Donna Way was reported to police at 2:22 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing a black Honda collide with a parked car and take off with moderate front-end damage.

Sgt. Vincent Hooper located the Honda in the area of Nadine Avenue and Stonum Road and stopped driver, Alberto Alanizceja, 21, of Modesto, who appeared to be drunk. After a DUI investigation conducted by Officer Kevin Sakasegawa,  Alanizceja was cited for suspicion of DUI, leaving the scene of a collision and driving without a license. He was released to his family.
