Intoxicated man nearly steers into deputy

Jose Gutierrez, 50, of Turlock, was arrested for drunken driving and driving on a suspended license after he nearly drove his truck into a passing Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputy at 9:06 p.m. on Sunday.

Officer Mike Vierra pulled over Gutierrez's pickup at Morgan Road and Marchy Lane and the driver was determined to be inebriated. He failed a field sobriety and blew a 0.18 BAC reading on the Breathalyzer. Gutierrez was arrested for DUI and driving on a suspended license.
