A Modesto man was arrested Friday evening after threatening people with a knife in the area of Mitchell Road and Whitmore Avenue.
It was reported at 10 p.m. that the suspect, Oscar Melgoza, 26, had run toward a male and female victim while holding a fillet knife over his head. The male victim fell to the ground. When Melgoza got close to them, he said, “Don’t play with my emotions” and was mumbling incoherently.
Melgoza was located walking on Whitmore Avenue near Moore Road. He admitted to the threat and stated that he thought the female was someone else. The knife was recovered nearby.
Melgoza was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for assault with a deadly weapon and booked.
