Jesse Holmboe, 22, of Modesto, was arrested by Ceres Police on Monday, Jan. 8 after he was seen taking a bag from a car parked near McDonald’s at Hatch and Mitchell roads.

Witnesses saw Holmboe checking doors on car and opened the passenger door of a white sedan and removed a large Christmas bag. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants.

At 12:03 a.m., Officer Charles Rushing saw Holmboe climbing into the passenger side of a car and toting a large Christmas gift bag. Officer Rushing approached the occupants. Holmboe then got back out but was detained. The driver said he was only giving Holmboe a ride and didn’t know anything about Holmboe’s theft. The Christmas bag was recovered and its owner  identified it as having been stolen from his white sedan.

The witness who called the police positively identified Holmboe as the thief. Holmboe was arrested and found with suspected methamphetamine. He was booked for theft, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and probation violations.
