A 20-year-old Ceres man who began fighting a group of strangers after asking for and being denied a ride was apprehended by officers who later found him nude on a Ceres street.

The man in the early Saturday incident was identified as Joseph Zuniga.

At 12:12 a.m. officers responded to the 2200 block of Cleta Court where Zuniga had approached a group of residents and asked for a ride but was turned down. He allegedly began to fight them and then took off running.

Officers checked the area but were unable to find the suspect. A few minutes later, dispatchers received a call of a naked male in the back yard of a residence on Venus Drive. Officers went to the area and found Zuniga standing naked in the street. The male was incoherent and appeared to have been in a fresh fight.

Officers determined that Zuniga was the same man who had attacked the group on Cleta Court and arrested him. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and after being medically cleared was booked for vandalism and battery causing great bodily injury.
