Mismatched plates lead to arrest
Ceres Cop Car

Mismatched license plates drew an officer's attention to a man Saturday afternoon who was arrested for lying about his true identity and violating the terms of his parole.

Officer Justin Canatsy was patrolling Bystrum Road at Eugene Avenue at 3:38 p.m. when he spotted a black Dodge Neon parked that bore two plates with different numbers and letters. The suspect, Daemaetri Johns, 36, of Modesto, supplied Officer Canatsy a fake name. Later it was determined who Johns really was and that he had an active warrant for his arrest. Johns was arrested for the warrant and two additional new charges of providing a false name to an officer, and parole violation.

The car was not stolen.
