Modesto adult book store murder suspect captured in Ceres
Liberty robbery
Favian Marcos Ramirez (inset) was arrested in Ceres Tuesday evening for the robbery of Liberty Books in Modesto and killing clerk Cinnamon Edes.

A man who Modesto Police say senselessly shot and killed a Kansas Avenue book store employee in a Tuesday afternoon robbery was captured hours later in Ceres.

Police say that Favian Marcos Ramirez, 20, bought an item at Liberty Adult Books and then shot Cinnamon Eades, 38, who was the clerk. He allegedly grabbed cash and fled the store.

The mortally wounded Eades was found by a customer who came in the store at 2:15 p.m. and saw her bleeding behind the counter. She had been shot numerous times and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Ramirez was tracked down to a residence in the area near Central and Pleasant avenues. Police spotted him getting out of a car different from the one used during the killing. He was arrested after Modesto Police detectives and SWAT team members set up a perimeter around the house. He was captured at approximately 11 p.m.

Police say that Ramirez drove to the adult book store in a car he took for a test drive from a used car dealership. After the shooting he left the car in the parking lot and fled on foot.

Detectives were able to identify Ramirez as the suspect after watching surveillance video and contacting the car dealership where he presented his driver’s license to take the car for a drive.

It’s unknown if Ramirez lives in Ceres or was visiting friends or family.
