A  20-year-old Ceres driver carrying a pregnant passenger led Ceres Police on a high-speed chase all the way to Merced County Monday evening.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Yotsuya said the incident began at around 9 p.m. when Officers John Lee and Officer Coey Henson were patrolling the area of Rose Avenue and Roeding Road when they saw a white Chevy pickup run through the stop sign on  eastbound on Roeding Road at Rose Avenue doing about 40 mph. Officer Lee got behind the Chevy truck and activated the emergency lights and siren but driver Aaron Osgood, 20, of Ceres, accelerated and ran through the red light at Roeding and Mitchell roads. The pursuit snaked through through the south/east county areas of Hughson and Denair and eventually ended when Osgood’s engine seized up while on southbound Highway 99 at Hammett Road south of Livingston. Osgood was arrested. The woman in the pickup was released.

Osgood was booked for evading arrest and driving on a suspended driver’s license
