A 39-year-old driver was arrested early Wednesday, Sept. 1 after he led police on a short pursuit.

At 2:39 a.m., Officer Brian Chandler spotted a blue Saturn Aura speeding west on Whitmore Avenue at Central Avenue. Officer Chandler attempted to stop the driver, by activating his emergency lights and siren. The driver of the Saturn, Andre Silvestri, 39, led officers on a pursuit to the 1500 block of Graham Lane where he pulled into a driveway. Silvestri ran from his car and into the house but quickly reappeared and gave himself up.

Silvestri appeared to be under the influence of alcohol/and or drugs. A DUI investigation was conducted, and Silvestri was arrested for DUI and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
