Sheriff’s detectives arrest man in drive-up shooting

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department investigators have arrested a 28-year-old Turlock man they believe shot another man at W. Hatch Road and Cascade Avenue in south Modesto on Sunday, May 23. 

Michael Arrizon has been booked for attempted murder. Deputies made the arrest during a high-risk car stop at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday near Herndon Avenue and Evans Road in Ceres. Arrizon was taken into custody without incident. The weapon believed used in the crime was recovered. 

The shooting took place at approximately 8:40 p.m. as the victim was looking for recyclable and had been grazed by a bullet on the right side of his head. The suspect pulled up in an older pickup, aimed a handgun and fired. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. 

Helping detectives to identify the suspect’s vehicle was surveillance video recovered from a nearby business. 

Michael Arrizon was interviewed and later booked into the Public Safety Center on attempted murder charges.

The case will now be with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, where allegations and facts will be evaluated for potential prosecution.
