Sheriff’s detectives investigate shooting on Hatch

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s detectives were on the scene of a Tuesday afternoon shooting on Hatch Road in south Modesto which left a man clinging to life.

The shooting took place at approximately 1:15 p.m. Deputies found the victim in a car inside of a canal near Cascade Avenue. The victim, described as a Hispanic man, had been driving when he was shot from someone in that area. He was removed from the car as paramedics began working on him before loading him into an ambulance and heading to a local hospital emergency room with life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement closed Hatch Road between Dallas Street and Crystal Avenue for the several hours as Crimes against Persons Unit detectives processed the area for evidence.
