David Gerald Sanchez, 57, of Modesto, was apprehended for shoplifting at Cost Less Foods on Saturday evening but also found concealing two clear plastic baggies containing a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

A store loss prevention officer saw Sanchez stuff a box of Advil in his pocket and fail to remove it when paying for other items. He was detained as police were called at 11:04 p.m.

Sanchez had two outstanding Ceres Police misdemeanor warrants, three misdemeanor warrants issued by the Sheriff Department and two misdemeanor warrants issued by Modesto Police, all for theft and drug offenses.

Sanchez was booked into the Public Safety Center.
