Theft with shove turns into robbery
Ceres Cop Car

A 44-year-old Ceres resident was arrested and booked for robbery as he allegedly got physical with a loss prevention officer during an alleged scheme to shoplift items from the shelves of Walmart and try to return them for cash with an old receipt.

The incident occurred at 9:03 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The store's loss prevention officer said Kevin Strutz took several items and walked around the store some time before walking over to customer service and attempt to "return" items for cash using a receipt he brought into the store. When he was confronted Strutz fought with the Walmart employee and then ran out of the store, westbound across Mitchell Road. Police found Strutz hiding behind the Wing Stop. He was booked for robbery since force or fear was involved.
