Two men suspected of being members of the Norteno street gang were arrested Saturday afternoon during a traffic stop, one for drugs and the other for carrying a loaded gun.

Officer Salinas stopped the car at 3:29 p.m. in the 1800 block of Central Avenue. During a stop the officer searched the car and located a loaded handgun under the seat of driver Frederick Brooks, 20, of Denair. Brooks was charged with felony possession of a loaded concealed firearm.

His passenger, Jesus Lopez, 18, of Ceres, was arrested for being in possession of cocaine.
