Two arrested in Jeep stop
Ceres Cop Car

A man wanted for car theft and vehicle burglary was arrested during a Thursday morning car stop while a passenger was booked for drug possession.

The incident unfolded at 11:07 a.m. when Officer Justin Canatsy was patrolling the area of Leo and Pecos Avenue and saw a red Jeep Cherokee run a stop sign. The driver gave a false name but was later identified as Margarito Rojo Jr., 33, of Modesto. Police believe that Rojo gave the false name because he had four outstanding warrants for his arrest.

A search of Rojo yielded four shaved keys, commonly used in vehicle burglaries and stealing vehicles. Rojo was arrested on the warrants along with possession of burglary tools.

Canatsy noticed two syringes sticking out of the bra of passenger Jenny Ritter, 32, also of Modesto. One of the syringes had a clear fluid substance inside. Ritter admitted the substance was methamphetamine in liquid form and stated she has been using methamphetamine for a couple of years.

Ritter was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and released on a promise to appear.
