Two arrested in June 27 traffic stop

Two persons were jailed after a 3:53 p.m. traffic stop on Monday, June 27 near Central and Caswell avenues.

Officer Matt Berlier made the stop and found that driver Ildefonso Herrera, 35, of Modesto, had a suspended license. As the vehicle was being processed for towing and inventory was being taken, the officer found an ounce of methamphetamine in the center console.

Herrera was arrested and charged with transportation of methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine for sale.

Initially passenger Sabrina Spears, 35, of Modesto, gave the officer a false name. A search of her purse turned up her ID and true identity. Spears is on probation for narcotics. She was arrested and charged with giving a false identity to a police officer, possession of a forged ID card and probation violation.
