Two arrested in separate DUI crashes within four days

Two drivers were arrested for drunken driving following separate crashes in Ceres last week.

The first crash occurred at 10:17 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Hatch and Mitchell roads.

Officer Mike Vierra was dispatched to the collision and noticed Guillermo Cruzbarajas, 31, of Ceres standing next to a silver-colored Acura. Cruzbarajas appeared to be intoxicated. Following a field sobriety test, he was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on a charge of DUI.

The second DUI crash involved one minor injury and took place at Mitchell and Fowler roads at 1:21 a.m. on Saturday, August 27. Officer Nicholas Welsh and other officers rushed to the scene and learned that Jimmy Barragan, 21, of Fremont, fled on foot. Barragan was later found hiding behind a vehicle near the scene. He appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI and felony hit and run after failing a field sobriety test.
