Sewer extension ordered

A contract worth $2.2 million to extend the Service Road sewer line was awarded last week to Teichert Construction by the Ceres City Council.

The project involves the construction of 7,492 linear feet of 36-inch sewer main from the city sewer plant to Crowslanding Road. It also includes 23 60-inch diameter sewer manholes, 401 linear feet of curb and gutter, 1,690 square feet of sidewalk and 23,276 square feet of AC pavement. The roadway construction is taking place in front of Stanislaus Farm Supply and is being paid from Public Facility Fees.

Stanislaus Farm Supply dedicated the necessary right-of-way to allow the construction of the frontage improvements.
A total of six bids were submitted and Teichert was the lowest despite an engineer's estimate of $3.15 million.
In other action last week, the council awarded a contract to install curb, gutter, sidewalk and matching pavement on the south side of Evans Road from Richland Avenue to Herndon Road. The contract went to Breneman, Inc., at a cost of $232,221.

with a contingency of $23,222.
