In-Shape Health Clubs will build a second state-of-the-art fitness center in the vacant commercial space on Hatch Road that once housed Big Lots.

Construction on the 14,600-square-foot space will take place soon at 1342 E. Hatch Road and be completed late fall or early winter to bring the company's total number of clubs throughout the state to 53.

"This will compliment our existing facility and give current members more options," said Kaci Barnes, a spokesperson for the Stockton based company. "It's a great location and gives us an opportunity to diversify the members that we draw."

In-Shape first came to Ceres in 1998 in the space next door to Big Lots (which closed the Ceres store earlier this year). In 2008 the first In Shape location was abandoned for a new two-story facility on Mitchell Road in 2008.

"We are thrilled to bring another cutting-edge, affordable fitness facility to Ceres residents," said Rob Farrens, In-Shape's Executive Vice President. "We're opening a new club to provide more options to the residents of Ceres and the surrounding areas. We're dedicated to providing the most options for being healthy and active to our members and the community."

Barnes said the two Ceres facilities will share some of the same amenities as the one on Mitchell Road but include some new features, such as a massage room and innovative group exercise classes on demand called "Fitness on Request." Barnes said members will determine the content of classes.

The new center, calls In-Shape Fit: Ceres, will also offer top-of-the-line cardio and weight training equipment, 29-minute circuit, tanning, stretching and abdominal workout areas, and certified personal trainers.

Members can opt for a "Platinum Plus" membership which gives full access to all In-Shape locations for outdoor pools, racquetball, tennis courts, childcare, group exercise and cycling classes and other amenities. In-Shape operates 53 locations in California, including 10 clubs within 15 miles of Ceres.

In-Shape has established a temporary onsite preview trailer offering special, limited-time charter member rates. Interested consumers may call 575-5500 or visit www.inshapeclubs.com for more information.

Farrens said his company is "always trying to bring the best and most convenient health and fitness resources - at an affordable price - to our members. We're investing in this club because we want to offer residents the most options for living an In-Shape lifestyle. In-Shape Fit: Ceres will deliver."

In-Shape Health Clubs is ranked one of the top 20 health club companies in the United States and owns and operates 53 locations in California. Founded in 1981 with one club and a vision for helping people stay healthy and have fun, the company has experienced consistent success and growth throughout the state.
