Annual Turkey Trot set for Thursday

A number of local residents will be starting out Thanksgiving Day putting on their running shoes and trying an early-morning run.

The annual Love Ceres Turkey Trot will be held at Ceres Christian Church, 3502 Roeding Road, Ceres. The 5K and 10K fun run is a fundraiser for Walter White and Westport elementary schools. The cost to enter is $25 per runner or a maximum of $75 per immediate family. Event organizer and youth pastor J.J. Beyronneau said the church had long identified the two schools as being in great need for support and that in years past the school donated supplies to help out.

Those wanting to get a large group involved should contact J.J. Beyronneau at 537-8931 for more information.

Check-in for runners begins at 7 a.m. with the race to start at 8 a.m.

In years past, runners started out on the campus and ran east on Roeding Road and then south onto Esmar Road, then east on Don Pedro Road past Faith Home Road to an orchard, before circling back to the church.
