Organizers are gearing up for the "Love Ceres" event set for Saturday, April 5.
The day calls for volunteers from all walks of life to commit to community service projects that help make Ceres a better place to work, live and play. Volunteers are being sought to help with 18 different projects throughout Ceres.
The April 5 event will be the sixth "Love Ceres" event held since 2011.
The event begins with a gathering at the Ceres Community Center at 9 a.m. After welcoming introductions and a brief pep rally, volunteers will be released to meet with their respective project leaders and receive instructions for their assignments.
Projects include free car washings for senior citizens, free meals to those in need in the community, mentoring a child, the clean-up of parks and neighborhoods, visiting residents of a Ceres convalescent home, assisting at the Ceres Library, praying for the volunteers and the community, performing home and yard maintenance, conducting a clothing drive, conducting a community Baby Shower, and inside and outside projects at the Whitmore Mansion. Everyone is encouraged to visit www.loveceres.com and sign-up for a project.
More than 50 others cities throughout the Valley will also be hosting "Love" events.
