Bicyclist dead in south Modesto crash

A 57-year-old man riding a bicycle in south Modesto was killed Thursday evening after entering traffic and colliding into a car.

The name of the victim was not released.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on S. Seventh Street south of Pecos Avenue. They reported that at approximately 10:10 p.m. the bicyclist rode westbound into the northbound lanes of South Seventh Street from the dirt shoulder across and came into the path of a northbound 2006Toyota Sienna. The driver of the Toyota, Esther Orozco Toledo, 49, of Modesto, was traveling at an estimated 25 mph but was unable to avoid a collision and struck the man. The victim flew off his bike and came to rest on the east shoulder of South Seventh Street.

The victim was rushed to Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
