Ceres Chamber to dole out awards on Jan. 17

The nominations are in and soon the Ceres Chamber of Commerce will be honoring a special member of the community with its 2012 Citizen of the Year "Lifetime Achievement Award."

The Chamber will host its 45th annual Citizen of the Year and Installation Banquet at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Ceres Community Center. Tickets are $35 per person. Sponsorship tables seating for eight also may be purchased and includes complimentary wine and sponsor recognition during the event. Since 1970, the Ceres Chamber of Commerce has recognized outstanding members of the Ceres community who have made extraordinary contributions in community service. This year the Chamber will be giving out a Distinguished Service Award, Citizen of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award, Young Citizen of the Year Award, Volunteer of the Year Award, Business of the Year Award and Downtown Business of the Year and a Legacy Award honoring individuals and/or businesses that have contributed through service, support or volunteer efforts, to the Ceres community for more than 40 years.

The banquet will also call for installation of new officers. Renee Ledbetter is the incoming president of the Chamber.
