Ceres firefighters help battle fire behind south Modesto commercial building

Firefighters tackle a grass fire on Crows Landing Road just north of Flamino Drive on Tuesday afternoon.

Ceres firefighters helped Modesto Fire Department contain a south Modesto grass fire on Tuesday, June 2 that spread into an adjacent properties occupied by Tiger Lines Trucking and PG&E.

The fire broke out at 4:11 p.m. behind a commercial building on the east side of Crows Landing Road between Glenn Avenue and Flamingo Drive.

Once the fire reached the Tiger Lines trucking yard through a chain-link fence the fire ignited a large pile of stacked plastic produce bins and multiple fiberglass tomato transportation bins stored on site.
