Ceres, Hughson students among those honored by Denham

Congressman Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) honored 28 students from high schools across the Central Valley Tuesday night, March 18 at the annual Congressional Merit Awards. Students were recognized for their academic, civic and extracurricular achievements.

"These students represent the best and the brightest," said Rep. Denham. "Their dedication to their studies and our community is exemplary. Each has a bright future and I was honored to recognize their hard work at our annual Congressional Merit Awards presentation."

Each award recipient was nominated by their high school's principal for their academic achievement, leadership, involvement in extracurricular activities, school citizenship, volunteerism and community service. The Congressional Merit Award program is open to all 48 schools in the 10thdistrict.

Local students honored include Arcelia Hermosillo of Ceres High School, Francisco Gradilla of Central Valley High School, Taylor King of Hughson High School, Mitchell Wilson of Argus and Endeavor High School, and Noah Reese of Whitmore Charter High School.
