Since October is ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month” Ceres Police officer Salin Chrim created a patch that is authorized by Chief Trenton Johnson for officers to wear during the month.

“No public funds were used to purchase this and she was able to get all the funds donated and created the patch herself,” said Johnson.

The patches are available for purchase of $15 apiece by the public at the Ceres Police Records Department, 2727 Third Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

The proceeds were intended to go toward cancer organizations but since then a wife of one of the officers was diagnosed with cancer so the decision was made to donate the proceeds from sales “to that family as they go through this.”

“We’ve already got a lot of community support and I just want to say thank you for that,” said Johnson.
