A Ceres teen has taken the initiative to raise funds and collect items to help families impacted by the Gann Fire in Calaveras County.
LeadHER Up, a youth-led organization founded by Ceres resident Kirpa Gill, is organizing a Saturday donation drive and fundraiser to collect essential supplies and raise money for Calaveras County victims.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday (August 15) at 2561 Fourth Street (northwest corner of Fourth and Magnolia), the Ceres girl will be accepting donations of nonperishable food, clothing, hygiene products, baby supplies, pet supplies and other essential items that may help families as they recover. The items will be distributed through the Calaveras Community Foundation.
For Gill, the fires are personal. Her uncle’s home was located near the affected area, giving her a closer look at the impact the fires have had on families. Seeing the stress and uncertainty surrounding the fires made her want to find a way to help.
“When I learned about the fires and realized how close they were to my own family, I knew I wanted to do something to help those affected,” Gill said. “LeadHER Up was created to empower young people and support communities when they need it most. We can’t change what these families have been through, but I hope this effort can bring people together and show them that they have people who care about them.”
Along with collecting supplies, LeadHER Up is also working toward a $5,000 fundraising goal to provide additional relief and resources to the Calaveras County community.

The effort is being supported by Trinut Farm Management and Central Valley Real Estate which are helping LeadHER Up connect with the community and bring additional resources to families.
LeadHER Up focuses on youth leadership, mental health awareness and helping young people make a difference in their communities. For Gill, helping during the fires is another way young people can come together and make an impact when their community needs it.
