AUTO THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED IN HIGH-RISK TRAFFIC

Jacob Stephens, 42, of Ceres, was arrested for auto theft at gunpoint during a Monday evening traffic stop.

At approximately 5:19 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Charles Lord-Huff was patrolling the area of Myrtlewood Drive and Calcagno Street when he spotted a stolen Chevrolet Volt. He followed the vehicle as he awaited backup officers to conduct a high-risk stop in the 1500 block of Lynley Drive.

Driver Jacob Stephens complied with demands to exit the vehicle and was arrested.

During a records check, officers learned Stephens was on probation. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and a probation violation.

DRIVER GOES TO JAIL DUE TO DUI WARRANT

A 41-year-old Modesto man was arrested on a felony DUI warrant during a Tuesday afternoon, August 4 traffic stop in Ceres.

At 2:49 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Michael Ferreira was patrolling the area of El Camino Avenue and Fourth Street when he observed an Oldsmobile Aurora parked at the Sonoco station at 3021 Fourth Street. Officer Ferreira spotted leaving the car was Jonathan Jones who had warrants for his arrest, one of which was for felony DUI.

Officer Ferreria approached Jones and arrested him on the warrants. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
