Chamber to inform businesses of new laws

The Ceres Chamber of Commerce is hosting a workshop for business people who need updates on laws that affect employers. Billed as the "2017 Employment Law Update" workshop, the event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21 at the Ceres Chamber of Commerce office, 2904 Fourth Street, Ceres.

The event is free for Chamber members and $10 for non-members.

Participants will hear about SB 3, the California minimum wage law; Executive Order #13706 on paid sick leave; overtime exemptions; laws regarding employee meal periods and rest breaks; payroll and wage statements; how SB 1234 effects retirement savings plans; and Prop. 64, the legalization of recreational marijuana.
