A seven-year-old boy sustained injuries when he was struck by a car on Monday afternoon, Sept. 18 at Central and Pleasant avenues.

The boy was struck by the car, rolled onto the hood of the car and fell onto the roadway when the car came to a complete stop. Emergency personnel came to the scene of the 7:22 p.m. crash and helped airlift the victim to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

The female driver of the white Chevy Cavalier was driving northbound Central Avenue at 30 mph when she saw a group of children playing along the dirt shoulder of the east side of the road in front of 3406 Central Avenue and slowed down when one of them suddenly ran westbound across the street in front of her car. She was unable to brake in time.

The boy was immediately attended to by his mother. He did not have any visible injuries but did complain of pain to his back and his head.

The driver of the Cavalier was visibly upset but not hurt.
