Harmless Nerf darts will be fired by 7- to 14-year-olds during a Jan. 27 "New Year's Nerf War" hosted by the city of Ceres Recreation Division at the Ceres Community Center, 2701 Fourth Street.

Darts and safety goggles will be provided by the city for the hour and a half event, which starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. The event promises fun under the supervision of recreation staff. Games will include team elimination and Capture the Flag. Children will be grouped by ages 7 to 11 and 12 to 14.

Participants must bring their own Nerf gun, standard or elite blasters only (no mega or rival guns).
