Siera Sandoval of Ceres was honored Monday evening by Mayor Chris Vierra at the Ceres City Council meeting as the winner of the Ceres Concerts in the Park children's singing competition held last month.

The mayor said he was a fan of hers and commended her for overcoming a serious technical problem that plagued her performance. Vierra said that the recorded music Siera was singing with stopped two-thirds of the way through. Siera started all over and the background music stopped a second time. She decided to sing it acapella the last time and nailed it. Vierra, who gave her a Certificate of Appreciation, said Siera's voice sounded "prettier" than with the music.

He called her creative and talented and said the public can get another listen of her at the Halloween Festival and at the Ceres Christmas Festival in the coming months.
