Stanislaus County Library customers may now download free digital audiobooks through a service called Hoopla. Thousands of titles are available for instant streaming on a computer or temporary downloading to smartphones and tablets.

To get started listening on the go, readers should download the free Hoopla app to their Android or iOS device and create a user account linked to the Stanislaus County Library. A valid Stanislaus County Library card is required in the setup process. Once logged in, users can browse or search thousands of popular titles.

To listen to an audiobook on a computer, readers should visit www.hoopladigital.com, and create a user account (or log in to an existing account) to gain access and begin streaming audiobooks instantly.

With this new service, there is no waiting for popular titles as the same book can be checked out to multiple users at one time. However, each customer is limited to two downloads per month. Readers will also enjoy the automatic return of books, which means there are never any late fees. Downloadable audiobooks are checked out for 21 days.
