The Stanislaus County Library is seeking community input on library services and programs in its third annual library survey. Responses collected from this survey help determine the community’s needs, benefiting both library staff and the community they serve as the library plans future improvements.

The survey will run all of September to correspond with National Library Card Sign-Up Month, a nationwide library initiative to raise awareness of the valuable resources individuals can access with a library card. With that in mind, the Stanislaus County Library’s survey will help the library evaluate the public’s familiarity with its services and guide efforts to ensure Stanislaus County residents know about the wide variety of resources available through their county library system. All community members are encouraged to provide feedback, even if they haven’t used the library recently.

“We count on survey responses to help us prioritize spending,” said County Librarian Sarah Dentan. “For example, Modesto customers were clear that parts of the library are dark, and it can be hard to see what’s on the shelf. As we plan for improvements, we know lighting will be a focus in Modesto.”

The survey is available online in both English and Spanish though the library’s website, www.stanlibrary.org. Paper versions of the survey will be available at all Stanislaus County Library locations.

The Stanislaus County Library is system of 13 libraries located in communities throughout the county. The library provides books and audiobooks, magazines, and newspapers, all in both print and digital formats. The library supports lifelong learning, including expert assistance accessing library resources and a robust line-up of programs and services that enhance learning at all levels. The Stanislaus County Library is funded primarily through an eighth-cent special sales tax, which expires in June 2030.
